Support VVI

Venerable Thrangu Rinpoche’s vision in building Vajra Vidya Institute was twofold:
to be a strong environment for monastic and lay students to study and practice the Buddhadharma and to be a place of inspiration for all people who visit, not only now but especially for future generations.

In order to fulfill this intention VVI needs sustaining support for the monks, staff, medical clinic and library. All donations are gratefully received and may be given for general support or specific purposes.

Sponsorship

Shedra Monks

Need: $600.00 USD/year
These young men study the traditional 7 year course in higher Buddhist Philosophy. They spend most of the year in Sarnath at VVI and in the heat of the summer they study at Thrangu Rinpoche’s monastery in Namo Buddha, Nepal.
Support provides food, clothing, toiletries, bed sheets, towels, study materials and basic medical needs.

New Monks:

Need: $300.00 USD/year
VVI is also home to young boys who have recently taken their vows and become monks. It is here that they begin their monastic training which includes learning to read and write the Tibetan language. After they pass a test, they are moved to the monastery in Nepal where they continue their education.
Support provides food, clothing, toiletries, bed sheets, towels, study materials and basic medical needs. (Toys and games too!)

Vajra Vidya Dispensary

The Vajra Vidya Clinic is staffed by a local Doctor and monks with basic medical training in Tibetan and western medicine and acupuncture. The clinic serves the local community, the monks and visitors with free and low cost health care.
Support will provide medicine and other medically related supplies and pay a salary to the Doctor.

VVI Library

You can help support the work of the VVI library which in addition to being a working library with publications in many languages is helping to preserve Buddhist texts and audio recordings of teachings.
Support for the library will help to purchase books and pay for supplies needed in the preserving and publishing of texts.

General Support

Any amount can be given at any time. Support will provide food, clothing, medical needs, emergency hospitalization and maintenance needs.
